IRS Extends ACA Reporting Deadline

The IRS has delayed the due dates for required ACA reports and forms, extending the due date for furnishing Form 1095's from February 1st, 2016 to March 31, 2016.

What you need to know:
  • Employers may distribute Form 1095-C to employees as late as March 31, 2016, instead of the original due date of February 1, 2016.
  • Paper delivery to the IRS of Form 1094-B and 1094-C has been extended to May  31, 2016.
  • Electronic transmittal of Form 1094-B and 1094-C to the IRS now has a due date of June 30, 2016 (previously March 31).

Employers may find an temporary relief for the Affordable Care Act Reporting because of the due date extension by the IRS, however, we still encourage employers to provide forms and file the information as soon as possible.  This allows your employees to receive the necessary information around the same time as their W-2 Forms.
