4 Ways Core Values Drove Our Crisis Response

July 15, 2020

Now more than ever, business is about being there for clients and customers, and not just selling products and services. Coastal Payroll is no exception. From day one of this crisis, we’ve asked ourselves, “How can we help?”

For us, this isn’t new. When we launched in 2007, it was to bring the human aspect back to payroll and human resources. Since then, we have adopted 12 Core Values to guide us. And recently, Core Value #9 has stood out:

“Give back to your community and to those in need.”

Answering Community Need

As the crisis began to unfold, here in California and across the nation, our team responded quickly to meet the needs of people, wherever they were.

  1. Initially, we held daily town hall webinars, not only for our clients, but for anyone who wanted to join us. We talked about sick leave, emergency sick leave, PPP, SBA loans, and just about everything else HR related. Our team worked tirelessly to ensure they could answer the questions coming in daily.
  2. We set up a dedicated email account just to accept all the questions coming in. Anyone was welcome to send questions, whether or not they were attending the town hall meetings, so we could ensure we got everyone’s questions answered.
  3. We acted quickly and created reports, with accurate and up-to-date calculations, for our payroll clients to use on their PPP loan applications. This helped ease their minds and move more quickly.
  4. We were here for any company that needed help calculating loan application amounts, even if it wasn’t one of our payroll or HR clients. Our team spent hours examining reports generated by other payroll companies to help business owners determine how much they should be asking for on their applications.

The COVID-19 pandemic, and its resulting impact on the economy, has forced us all to rethink our business approach. From travel and hospitality brands to retail and consumer companies, everyone is asking how they can be better, not only to survive through this recession, but also to act as a resource. Coastal Payroll is proud to be among them.
